As you know, on March 8, our 3rd Boeing 747-200F (EX47004) arrived.
But before it came to Bishkek, it was undergoing a big maintenance at the Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF)
The aircraft went through the most extensive maintenance check, classified as a D-check
D-check is the most complicated and expensive technical inspection, which is held once in 12 years, during which all components of the aircraft are checked
The D-check procedure takes up to 2 months or about 50,000 man-hours
First the aircraft is completely disassembled, all panels, units and mechanisms are removed and the aircraft is handed over to specialists who carry out inspection and repair and replacement of parts.
The aircraft itself is inspected by another team of specialists who check the skin and hull for defects.
After all the components and mechanisms have been checked and replaced, the aircraft is reassembled and the new systems are tested. Once the mechanics and technicians are satisfied that all systems are working properly, the aircraft can perform new missions.
